Sunrise Youth Group had a BLAST at the Whitby Santa Claus Parade! Big thanks to everyone who came out, and a huge thanks to Don and Dave for driving the float! The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

WOW! Sunrise has already made a trip to Simcoe Hall Settlement House because the donations were over flowing!! We will be collecting donations until the final drop off on December 16th ! Your support goes a long way! Thank you!

Sunrise youth group is a non-profit organization that has provided quality recreational and life skills programming to individuals with special needs since 1991.We strive to develop inclusive programming that creates positive experiences for all who access it- whether it be our members, their families, or our volunteers. Sunrise is a positive outlet for leadership and creativity, and encourages all young people to explore their potential!

Peer Helper Concept

The individuals who join in to become friends with our members are truly what sets Sunrise apart from all other organizations and certainly what makes Sunrise such a truly enjoyable experience! Volunteers fuel SYG programs with their energy, enthusiasm and new ideas, and are encouraged to take as much responsibility as they would like. What is especially unique is that there is no special experience required. If you are sincere, fun loving, accepting and reliable, then you have what it takes to be a Sunrise Volunteer! To sign up, simply call (905) 438-9910. There is no minimum attendance requirement. Just call and let us know what you are ready and able to do. It’s that easy!

Performing Arts

The Sunrise Youth Group performing arts program helps to improve and maintain emotional well being and physical health.

Baking

The Baking Program allows the members to become familiar with baking utensils and equipment, their names and how to use them.

Literacy Program

SYG participants contribute to an ongoing novel study where they actively listen to the material being presented. 

Our Programs

The Sunrise Youth Group Day Program provides a positive and accepting environment for individuals who require social and learning opportunities after graduating from High School.  With a participant-to-staff ratio of 4:1 or better, SYG’s Day Program creates a safe and supportive environment where all individuals feel welcome.  It assists in the development and retention of work experience, life skills and social interaction in a group environment
